Loving 360

Loving 360

As parents, we are responsible for raising our children to become responsible adults who love God and others.

Proverbs 15 provides a biblical framework for parenting, and we found a wonderful resource in the book "Growing Kids God’s Way" by Gary Ezzo offered additional wisdom to guide us in our journey.

One of the key principles in raising godly children is the importance of being consistent in our parenting. Proverbs 15:31-32 reminds us that discipline is necessary for growth and that correction should be received with a humble heart. As parents, we must be consistent in enforcing consequences when our children misbehave, but also be willing to listen and correct our own mistakes when necessary.

Another important principle is the importance of modeling godly behavior. Proverbs 15:1 tells us that a gentle answer turns away anger, but a harsh word stirs up wrath. As parents, we must model the behavior we want to see in our children. If we respond to them with kindness and gentleness, they will be more likely to respond in the same way.

Proverbs 15:5 reminds us that a fool despises his father's instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent. This verse speaks to the importance of teaching our children and helping them understand why we make the decisions we do. It's not enough to simply tell them what to do - we must explain the reasons behind our choices and help them learn to make good decisions for themselves.

Another key principle is the need to establish clear boundaries and expectations. Proverbs 15:27 tells us that the greedy bring trouble to their households, but the one who hates bribes will live. As parents, we must establish clear rules and boundaries for our children, and help them understand the consequences of their choices.

Finally, Proverbs 15:23 reminds us that a word spoken at the right time is like gold on a silver tray. As parents, we must be intentional about speaking words of encouragement and affirmation to our children. Our words have the power to shape their self-image and worldview, so we must use them wisely and with love.  Always guard your tongue and tone when speaking to your children.

In conclusion, Proverbs 15 offers valuable insights for parents who desire to raise godly children. By being consistent, modeling godly behavior, teaching our children, establishing clear boundaries, and speaking words of encouragement, we can help our children grow into responsible adults who love God and others.
