Who We Are
Who We Are
Being rooted means we don’t shift with culture—we stand firm on truth.
We believe in the active work of the Holy Spirit today—guiding us, strengthening us, and shaping us to become more like Christ.
Living Spirit-empowered means we depend on God’s power, not our own, as we walk out our faith.
Every believer is called and gifted by God. We help people grow, discover their purpose, and use their gifts to serve others.
Being equipped means we don’t just attend church—we live on mission, making disciples wherever God has placed us
Agape Church began in 1986 with a small group of families gathering in a living room with a shared desire to know God more deeply. By God’s grace, that simple beginning has grown into a church family that encourages hundreds in faith, worship, and service.
Today, Agape Church is known for a life-giving, Christ-centered culture marked by:
• Enthusiastic, Spirit-filled worship
• Biblically sound, practical teaching
• A deep emphasis on personal engagement with the Holy Spirit
• A diverse, welcoming church family
• Genuine participation in the Gospel through service, generosity, and prayer
Beginnings: Meeting at the Holiday Inn.
Real Love is Revealed in Scripture – We embrace the Bible as the chief authority for life and conduct. The Bible reveals that God is Love and how we may love one another appropriately.
Real Love Upholds Family – Solid families are the critical components of all society. We believe God designed church to love, support, and encourage every family toward godliness and flourishing.
Real Love is Inclusive – “Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the children of the world.” And so does Agape Church. We embrace the marvelous variety of God’s people and pursue Him together in worship, prayer, and service.
Real Love Promotes Freedom – Hands raised, heads bowed, singing, shouting, dancing, kneeling, laughing, weeping, and flag waving are all expressions of worship seen in Scripture and regularly in our services. Jesus elicits our sincerest praise and we welcome all such devotion to Him done decently and in order.
Real Love Takes Action – Love is more than a feeling. Love is giving, serving, helping, encouraging, keeping, repenting, and forgiving by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.
We hold to beliefs that reflect the heart of biblical Christianity — firmly grounded in God’s Word, open to the Holy Spirit’s work, and centered on helping you know Jesus and follow Him daily.
We believe THE HOLY BIBLE is inspired by GOD, absolute in truth, and supreme in authority.
We believe HOLY GOD exists. He is the source and sustainer of existence. He reveals Himself (all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere-present) in three Persons: THE FATHER, THE SON, and THE HOLY SPIRIT.
We believe JESUS OF NAZARETH is GOD THE SON who descended to live a human life and lay down His life as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind. He died on a cross. He was buried for three days. He rose on the third day. He ascended to heaven. He is returning one day for those who trust in Him.
We believe THE HOLY SPIRIT is GOD within us. After Jesus’ ascension, the Holy Spirit descended to lead and empower every believer to live a holy life that honors God and exemplifies Jesus.
We believe HUMAN BEINGS are created in the image of GOD. But because of our faithless disobedience, we are born sinners separated from the life and fellowship of God. In this condition we are lost, undone, without hope, destined for God’s just wrath and eternal destruction.
We believe SALVATION from sin and death is found in JESUS alone. It is a love gift from GOD. It cannot be earned through our good works or acts of righteousness. It is imparted to a believer who turns away from their sin and chooses to trust wholeheartedly in how Jesus has provided for them. By God’s grace, they are born again to new life by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT.
We believe HEAVEN and HELL are actual locations as described in the BIBLE. Believers who have embraced salvation through Jesus Christ are welcomed into the bliss of Heaven while nonbelievers who have rejected salvation through Jesus Christ are secluded in the eternal punishment of Hell.
We believe the two ORDINANCES Jesus decreed for the Church are WATER BAPTISM and COMMUNION.
Water Baptism is a milestone in every believer’s life publicly declaring their commitment to Jesus.
Communion is a regular touchstone for the church to practice publicly or privately in remembrance of Jesus’ great sacrifice.
We believe the HOLY SPIRIT empowers willing believers today to operate in the same supernatural giftings as demonstrated in the life of JESUS, the apostles, and the early church.
We believe MARRIAGE is a picture of Christ’s relationship with the church. It is defined from the beginning as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. God designed SEXUAL INTIMACY to be exercised within the boundaries of the marriage relationship and He does not endorse or condone it in any other context.
Church is not a building; it is a community of people following Jesus together. Agape is blessed with a dedicated team who joyfully serve by offering their gifts, time, and talents for the sake of the Gospel.
